Privacy Policy

The short version

StressFree does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Everything stays on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party data sharing.

What we do not do

• No accounts. No sign-up. No email required.
• No analytics, usage tracking, or crash reporting tools (Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.).
• No advertising.
• No bank syncing or financial account linking.
• No cookies or tracking pixels.
• No selling, renting, or sharing your data with anyone, ever.

What stays on your device

All of the following live in your device's local storage and never leave it:

• Your weekly budget amount
• Every expense and income you log
• Savings goals and habit streaks
• Recurring expenses and recurring income entries
• Custom categories
• Settings, theme preference, and notification preferences
• Receipt photos and the text extracted from them (when you use the receipt scanner)

Camera permission (receipt scanner)

If you use the Pro receipt scanner, StressFree asks for camera permission. The photo you capture is processed entirely on your device by an on-device OCR engine (Tesseract.js). The image and the extracted text never leave your device — they are not uploaded to any server, ours or otherwise. You can deny the camera permission and use the app fully without the scanner.

In-app purchases

StressFree offers an optional one-time Pro upgrade for $6.99 USD (auto-localized in other currencies). This purchase is processed entirely by Google Play Billing on Android, or Apple's App Store on iOS. We do not receive, see, or store any payment information. The platform's privacy policy applies to the purchase transaction:

The only thing the app sees from the purchase is a yes/no confirmation that you are a Pro user, used to unlock the Pro features locally.

Backup and restore

The Pro Backup feature lets you save a JSON file of your data to wherever you choose (your phone's Files app, Google Drive, iCloud Drive, email, etc.). The file is created locally and shared via your operating system's standard share or download flow. We do not see, upload, or store the backup file. You control where it goes and who has access.

Notifications

If you enable Pro notifications, StressFree schedules them locally on your device using your operating system's notification system. The notification content is generated on your device. No notification content or schedule is sent to any server.

Children's privacy

StressFree is designed for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. The app is safe for users of all ages because we do not collect data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page and bump the version number at the top. Our core promise will not change: we do not collect your data, and we never will.
